Wildcat Scramble Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BerkeleyBoomers: Revisited the site. It is now overgrown with coyote bush and poison oak. It would be an ugly hide, and I don't like ugly hides. Perhaps someone can find a better place for a cache in the area.

Geocache Description:

Camouflaged Rubbermaid container.

Not wheelchair accessible and not stroller accessible. No bushwacking required. Park hours are 5 am to 10 pm.

The north side of Tilden and into Wildcat Canyon is a wonderful area for hiking, but greatly lacking in geocaches.

Spent a spring morning hiking and caching, with an eye out to dropping one or more caches along the way. Found a great spot, but Better Half said with all this rain, the poison oak is going to block access to it within weeks. So we looked a little farther till we found this spot, which might be even better.

You’ll find it along an unmapped path not far off the main trail. It may be approached from above (Wildcat Peak) or below (Jewel Lake) ; either way you will experience some hill climbing, but nothing technical.

There are several other caches not far away to make it worth your while.
