Das Fohlenhaus / The Foal House
Mittelpunkt und Wahrzeichen des Lonetals / Central and landmark of Lone valley
Im tropischen Jurameer - mit Wassertemperaturen bis 25°C - leben vor 150 Millionen Jahren neben Ammoniten, Belemniten, Muscheln, Sauriern und Korallen auch Schwämme, die wie die Korallen große Riffe aufbauen.
In den flachen Lagunen dazwischen lagert sich Schlamm ab. Aus Schlamm und Riff wird im Laufe der Jahrmillionen Gestein mit unterschiedlicher Härte: Der Schlamm wird zu Schichtkalk oder zu Mergel, die Riffe zu viel härterem Massenkalk.
Erosion durch das fließende und lösende Wasser bildet die versteinerten Riffe als Felsen heraus - wie hier am Fohlenhaus.
Die Lösungskraft des kohlendioxidhaltigen Wassers hat den Felsen ausgehöhlt.
Ergebnis: Das Fohlenhaus - ein Schwammriff!
Von weitem betrachtet meint man in der Form der Felsformation ein Pferd oder Fohlen zu erkennen, daher der Name 'Fohlenhaus'.
In the tropical seas of the Jurassic time, which had a temperature up to 25°C, lived besides ammonites, belemnites, shells, dinosaurs and corals also sponges that built great reefs in the same way as the corals did.
Mud deposited in the small lagoons between it. Within millions of years, mud and reefs formed rock of varying hardness: Mud turned into chalk layer or marl, the reefs turned into reef limestone of greater hardness. Erosion, created through flowing and dissolving water, is responsible for forming rocks out of the fossilized reefs – as it can been seen at the Foal House.
The rock was eroded by the solvent power of the carbon dioxide-containing water. The result: The Foal House – a sponge reef.
Seen from a further distance, the rock formation appears as a horse or a foal. So it was named the Foal House.
Zwei Höhlen befinden sich im Fels:
Eine untere kleinere Höhle, die nur 2,5m über der Talsohle liegt und 7,5m in den Fels hineinreicht. Und eine größere Höhle (oben) mit 10m Länge.
Beide sind nach Südwesten orientiert. Die Eingänge liegen damit weite Teile des Tages im Bereich der Sonneneinstrahlung.
In den Höhlen wurden u.a. Hinterlassenschaften aus der frühen und späten Mittelsteinzeit gefunden.
Two caverns can be found in the rock: A small cavern in a lower distance of 2.5 m from the bottom of the valley, which has a length of 7.5 m, and above a bigger cavern with a length of 10 m.
Since both caverns are in the south-western part, the entrances are touched by the sun almost all day.
Leftovers of the Early and Late Middle Stone Ages were found in the cavern.
Deine Aufgaben sind es nun zwei kleine Fragen zu beantworten und mir via Email zu senden und eine Zeichnung zu machen.
Loggen dürft ihr sofort!
1) Was wird wörtlich als "kleine Steine" bezeichnet und für was sind diese eine Leitform?
2) Welche Nummer hat das Werkzeug, auf das von oben mit zwei Pfeilen gezeigt wird? Mache zusätzlich davon eine Zeichnung und hänge sie dem Log an (ohne Nummer!).
3) (Optional!) Es wäre nett, wenn du/ihr ein Bild von euch vor einem der Höhleneingänge (siehe Beispielbild) machen und eurem Log anhängen würdet. Falls ihr alleine dort seid reicht auch ein Bild vom GPSr vor dem Eingang.
Your task is to answer two questions and to send me an e-mail with the solutions and to make a drawing:
1) What is meant by the term "kleine Steine" (small stones) and what are they the leading form for?
2) Which number has got the tool that is marked by two arrows from above? In addition to the answer, make a drawing of it and attach it to your log (without the number!).
3) (optional) It would be great if you take a picture of you at the entrance of the cavern (take a look at my sample image) and upload it with your log. If you are alone, it is also okay when you take a picture of your GPS at the entrance.
