AKA: Special Ed & FallenFaery.

He was an early adopter and an enthusiastic supporter of our sport. He had a keen eye for great locations placing caches in some of the greatest wooded areas on the southside. This in not to say that he did not have a flair for some urban style hides too.
Often using clever containers, interesting locations (often not far from a trail) he had a playfulness that kept us entertained. He also introduced several unique concepts to the sport.
Sometimes a leader in the Chicago area he was a part of the the first organizational efforts, hosted a few events and generally tried to help keep geocaching moving forward in the community.

Imagine, Cap Sauer's Holding with just 3 caches located in it? That was early in the day and I remember heading out to hunt his fun series he had place. Looking at the maps I was thinking... Man! That is some wide open territory. Heading down to hunt (with Torus) we were amazed at the terrain and beauty of the area. Quiet and cool!
I would have to say he had a clear vision on how geocaching should be.
As time wore on and the sport started to change to more senseless driveups and meaningless hides he became discouraged and drew back from the sport.
He did have an influence on many of the geocachers that hunted and were delighted by his hides and this cache is a tribute to some of the things I have learned.
Don't worry Ed! We all learned a lot from your efforts!
