Watershed)
SNC is an environmental organization that works closely with its
member municipalities, government, individual landowners and
various community groups to maintain and improve the natural
resources waterways within its watershed. On your brief quest to
this cache, you'll be a witness to the beauty of the South Nation
River that we are working hard to protect.
FINDING THIS GEOCACHE
WILL REQUIRE THE USE OF A CANOE OR
KAYAK
You should park at High Falls Conservation Area (parking
coordinates) to launch your canoe or kayak. Be sure to wear a
lifejacket, and review all applicable regulations before your trip.
You should also consider bringing sunscreen, bugspray and lots of
water. From the launch, you will only paddle approximately 200
meters upstream until arriving at South Cassel Island (Note- not an
official name, but let's see if it catches on). Although this is a
very short paddle, you might want to consider exploring the river
further. You will probably want to wear shoes to find this regular
sized geocache.
This cache should not be attempted in Winter. Ice conditions are
quite unpredictable and very dangerous- even deadly. Swimming is
also not recommended, as the river current can also be quite swift
at times.
