Geocache Description:

This area situated outside of Clare SA is known for it's mixed farming and stock grazing.
Explorer Edward John Eyre travelled this valley on June 7th 1839 and named the river "Hill River" after the man who discovered it's twin river the Hutt which run parallel to each other..
The valley was well known during the 1860's and 1870's for the large scale farming operations on the "Hill River Estate" for it's cultivation of 4,500acres of land during this time...
The area was more closely settled in 1912 with a school and various sporting bodies arising around this time..
