[Sve] Östrabo

På sin höjd ett stenkast från Domkyrkan i centrala Växjö ligger det underbart vackra Östrabo med sina röda flyglar. Huvudbyggnaden är uppförd år 1797 efter beslut av Gustav III efter framställning från biskop Wallquist. En del av huvudbyggnaden är nuvarande biskop Sven Thidevalls bostad. Alla de fyra röda flyglarna innehåller kontor för personalen på stiftskansliet. Vid sidan om ligger det gamla prästänkehemmet som nu rymmer ett tjugotal kontorsrum. Sammanlagt arbetar ca 50 personer här. Med utsikt över staden och som närmaste granne till ett blommande koloniområde kan man inte önska sig en bättre arbetsplats! Det har sagts att Östrabo måste vara det vackraste biskopsätet i Sverige.

Nya Parken där cachen ligger anlades år 1935-1937 av biskop Sam Stadener.

At most at a stones throw from the Växjö Cathedral lies the lovely Östrabo with its red wings. The main building was erected in 1797 after a decision by king Gustav III after a demand from bishop Wallquist. Part of the building is now the the living quarters of the present bishop, Sven Thidevall. All the four red wings are offices for the diocese. Close by is the old “priest widow home”, now containing about 20 offices. In total about 50 persons have Östrabo as their working place. With a view over the central city and next door neighbour to a florishing allotment garden you couldn’t want a better place to work. It is said that Östrabo must be the most beautiful episcopal site in Sweden.

The New Park where the cache is located was laid out in 1935-1937 by bishop Sam Stadener.
