Geocache Description:

The Game Commences

6am. Through blood-shot eyes the big red numbers glower back at me. Now comes the familiar, dull pain beneath the eyes. All the results of a late night filled with checking reports, making notes, and inhaling the odd slug of Old Forester along the way. Still a mystery to me, this one was a welcome distraction from the usual mundane cases that I seem to be attracting lately.

Scarred For Life

I already had the coords for the first location. Not much here except for a plaque nearby that looks like it's seen better days - I know the feeling. Reading it soon brings me down to earth again, but I remember writing something about this in my notes. I fish my diary out of my deep pockets, they go with the short arms if you didn't already know, and flip to the last of many dog-eared pages. "It was near here on AB June CDEF at A:CG pm that ...." I had noted. So, off to the next location :

Digging Up The Dirt

In a town where they still think digital wrist-watches are a pretty neat idea, a GPS can be anything you want it to be. A young couple tripping along the sidewalk seem more than a little interested in my actions, so I hold the GPS up like a camera and pretend to take some happy-snaps of the landmark in front of me. I think I might have them fooled, but they suddenly finish their rubber-necking and push past me. Maybe I shouldn't have tried to make the click, click and buzzing sounds as well. Anyway, time for more notes, ".... Proclaimed V1th August WXYZ
", so now to :

The Long Goodbye

A few more people checking me out, maybe it's the trench-coat and Fedora hat I'm wearing - you get to meet all sorts, but geez, these guys are so un-hip it's a wonder their bums don't fall off ! It's usually a quiet part of town, but at least this looks like the right place for the "drop". Just like Bogies last scene from "Casablanca", I figure I might regret staying any longer, but suddenly the the coast is clear and I'm busier than a one-armed taxi driver with a case of crabs. Got it at last, but it looks like I'm not the first here. Another case closed, now there's just the small matter of the fee (plus expenses) ......
