Det er nemmest at finde disse 10 caches ved nordlige vinde: så kan man f.eks. starte med #1 og så bare følge efter flyene – i kompasretning 040 grader!
Omvendt: ved sydlige vindforhold kan man begynde med #10 og så bare følge de startende fly!
De flestes caches er placeret i nærheden af Kongelundens mange stier. Taget derfra er terræn nok ikke mere end 1,5.
Vælger du at gå direkte fra cache til cache, skal du nok forberede dig på at komme gennem rævl og krat, og over grøft og grav! Derfor er Terræn sat overalt til 3 selvom Amager er flad som en pandekage!
“Scandinavian five-zero-two clear to land runway zero-four left”
Sådan kan det lyde fra kontroltårnet i Kastrup til SAS flyet SK502 fra London, når piloten får tilladelse til at lande på bane 04 til venstre.
En lufthavns landings- og startbaner – runways – har ”navne” efter deres kompasretninger.
Således hedder hovedbanerne i Kastrup Lufthavn 04 og 22, idet kompasvisningen – når man kommer ind til landing sydfra til bane 04 – vil vise kurs 040 på flyets kompasser.
Samme bane – men nordfra – vil give kurs 220 og hedder derfor bane 22.
Det er altså de to første tal i kompasvisningen, der ”navngi´r” en bane.
Ved siden af hovedbane 04-22 findes en parallelbane, og for at skelne de to baner fra hinanden, kaldes de højre og venstre – på engelsk Right and Left.
Når disse baner i Kastrup kaldes for hovedbaner, skyldes det, at vindforholdende her er sådanne, at disse baner er i brug langt de fleste af årets dage.
Kun på ekstremt blæsende dage med vindretninger direkte på tværs af de to hovedbaner, anvendes tværbanen 12-30. Denne bane giver desværre mange støjgener for de omkringboende, og er derfor pålagt restriktioner for anvendelse. Og samtidig vil trafikafviklingen besværliggøres med kun én bane til både starter og landinger.
Det normale trafikbillede ved vinde fra de nordlige retninger (fly lander og starter helst i modvind) vil være, at bane 04L anvendes til landinger og 04R til starter.
I de store landingsryk kan man af og til se, at begge baner anvendes til landinger, og flyene kan så komme ind til landing næsten ved siden af hinanden.
Men altså: ved nordlige vinde lander flyene fra syd. Og da kan det være en blandet fornøjelse at lade turen gå til Kongelunden i den tro, at man nu skal nyde ”I skovens dybe stille ro”, når flyene buldrer ind over hovedet på én.
Men så kan man jo f.eks. passende finde denne serie på 10 caches, som er udlagt i kompasretningen ind mod runway 04L
Efterfølgende kan du eventuelt nyde en forfriskning ved cachen GCWRZ4, hvor der er fin fin mulighed for at se flyene på nært hold. Dér vil du også kunne få en snak med ”fly-spotterne”, der er mindst lige så hooked på deres hobby som vi med geo-caching!

Clear to land runway 04L - a series of 10 caches.
It is easy to search for these caches with northerly winds: you can start with #1 and then just follow the planes on compass course 040 degrees. By southerly winds you can begin with #10 and follow the starting planes!
The caches – placed approximately 200 meters apart – can be reached close to the many paths in the forest, in that case terrain is not more than 1,5.
However, if you chose the direct course cache-to-cache please be prepared for a walk through dense vegetation, over ditches and small canals etc.
Terrain is therefore sat overall to 3 although Amager is flat like a pancake!
“Scandinavian five-zero-two clear to land runway 04 left”
This is how the SAS plane from London could be given clearance to land at Copenhagen Airport.
Airport runways are named after the compass bearings during landing and takeoff. Consequently the main runways at Copenhagen Airport are called 04 and 22 as the compasses will show 040 coming in from the south and 220 from the north. It is the two first digits that “name” a runway.
Note how the two figures subtracted result in 18 or 180.
As the main runway also has a parallel it is further necessary to name them Right or Left.
The reason for calling them main runways is that the wind conditions at Copenhagen Airport are such, that these runways are in use most of year.
Only at extreme windy days with direct crosswind will runway 12-30 be in use (compasses 120 and 300). However due to noise restrictions, curfew is imposed at odd hours. Furthermore as this runway is a single runway for both landings and takeoffs the traffic is somewhat delayed.
The normal picture with northerly winds is that runway 04L is in use for landings and 04R for takeoffs. In peak hours with many landings both runways could be used for landings with planes coming in almost side-by-side.
With such northerly wind conditions and planes coming in to land from the south, it can be a very noisy experience walking in the beautiful forest Kongelunden with planes roaring overhead.
After your efforts finding these ten caches you could take a refreshment at the nearby cache GCWRZ4 and have an excellent opportunity to watch the traffic very close. Here you also can have a chat with the “plane-spotters” who are equally hooked to their hobby as we are to geo-caching!
