* New this year * Sherman County Fair Geocoins for the first 200 teams to sign up at the fair!
On Saturday, August 28th, 2010 at the Sherman County Fair Grounds in Moro, OR, we invite you to join us for our 2nd annual geocache event and cache hunt. This event was originally planned as a family activity to acquaint and inform local residents and others who would join us with Geocaching in the wheat and windmills of Sherman County.
10 new Cache will be placed in beautiful sunny Sherman County for the event challenge. We're also planning an orienteering event on the fairgrounds themselves. Information for the cache hunt will be passed out the morning of the event at the Fairgrounds to those who sign up.
There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. Prizes will be awarded at the fairgrounds that afternoon (time to be announced). All participants will return to the Sherman County Fair grounds for the results of the hunt to be eligible for prizes. Handouts and volunteers will be available to answer questions and to help you extend your geocaching adventures in our beautiful Sherman County.
Scenic and /or historic sites within Sherman County will be the destinations for this treasure hunt.
Prizes will be awarded but your ultimate reward will be a fabulous time as you cache in the beautiful scenery, taking in amazing views of Sherman County’s great outdoors and learning about our history and culture. This will be a great opportunity to learn about GPS technology, Geocaching and preserving the environment. Come take a look first hand at the amazing windmills of Sherman County where we produce 100% renewable energy.
Admission and parking are always free!
This event was made possible in part by a grant from the Sherman County Cultural Coalition. (visit link)
