Cachen er en liten sylindrisk boks av plastikk. Den inneholder en loggbok og noen mindre byttegjenstander. Det er ingen penn i cachen for øyeblikket, så bring din egen.

The cache is a small cylindrical plastic container. It contains a logbook and some small trading items. No pen at the moment, so bring your own.

Denne cachen er å finne på Herøya, som har gitt sitt navn til kommunen. Ankommer du med bil over Nautøya, kommer du til en gruslagt parkeringsplass. Herfra må du gå. Det første du møter når du går over brua til Herøya, er Herøy gard som huser Herøy kystmuseum. Museet er oppe om sommeren.
Du vil også finne den gamle kirkegården. Står du på kirkegårdens høyeste punkt, står du der den første kirken ble oppført i ca. 1100. Ruinen du ser litt lenger ned, er fundamentet til trekirken som ble bygget i 1859. Steinen fra den første kirken er brukt i fundamentet. Trekirken ble revet og flyttet til Bergsøya i 1916 og brant ned 2. juledag i 1998. Selv om kirken ble flyttet fra Herøya, er kirkegården i bruk av beboerne av Herøya og Notøya. Som du forstår, er du på en fredet og historisk plass.

Det er av og til arrangementer på Herøy gard som gjør at cachen kan være vanskelig å finne uten at mugglere iakttar deg. Ellers er stedet et friluftsområde mange nytter.

På baksiden av Herøy gard vill du finne en asfaltert sti som bringer deg til Herøy utendørs amfiteater og cachen ved navn ”The King’s Ring”. Vær så snill og steng grinden på vei inn og ut. Og hold din hund i bånd. Sauer beiter i området hele året. Hold hunder på 5 m lengde fra væren... for han kan være beskyttende. Jeg snakker av erfaring.

The cache is located at the island Herøya, from which the municipality has it name. Coming by car across the island Nautøya, you will end up at a parking place. From here you must walk. The first ting to greet you as you enter the island over the bridge from Notøy is Herøy farm housing Herøy coastal museum (Herøy gard/Herøy kystmuseum). The museum is open during the summer.
You will also find the old church yard. At the highest point of the church yard, you will be standing where de first church was raised around 1100. The ruin you see further down is the foundation to the wooden church build in 1859. The stones from the first church were used in the foundation. The wooden church was moved to Bergsøya in 1916 and burned down 2nd day of Christmas 1998. Even though the church was moved, the church yard is still in use by the people living at Herøya and Notøya. As you understand, you are in a protected historical place.

Different events at Herøya occur now and then and may make the cache difficult to reach without mugglers looking at you. The place is also a recreation area many uses.

On the back side of the farm you will find a tarmac trail which will lead you to Herøy outdoor amphitheatre and the cache named “The King’s Ring”. Please close the gate going in and out. And keep your dog in chains. Sheep roam free in the area all year. Keep dog at 5 m length from the ram... or he might just du that... ram your dog. I speak from experience.
