A cache with a good view of the Capulin Volcano.
If you have some time to spare, I'd recommend swinging over to the Capulin Volcano National Monument, which you can easily see from this spot on the highway. (Just to point out the obvious: the cache is by Highway 87, NOT in the park.) Admission is $5 per vehicle, and you can drive almost to the top of the peak, as long as you are willing to risk NEAR-CERTAIN DEATH in doing so. I mean, the road is about as wide as my closet (it was originally carved out by some dude with a mule-drawn plow), and for most of the stretch there are no guardrails, but there sure is a real strong wind that threatens to push you over the edge to plummet screaming to your doom. If you survive, though, there's a great view from about 1,300 feet up. You can also descend into the dead crater. Warning: virgin sacrifices discouraged.
