В местността Асара край днешния Симеоновград, на десния бряг на река Марица, върху естествено платовидно възвишение се е намирала прочутата някога крепост Констанция, датираща от късната античност - IV в. пр. н.е. Тази крепост се оформя като един от най-големите и стари градове в Северна Тракия, съществувал от IV в. пр. н.е. до началото на XIII в.

Обхващала е площ от 10 ха. Разкрита е част от крепостната стена и полукръгли и U образни кули. През 9- 10 век тук възниква българско селище.

Ясно личат яки зидове, дебели около три метра. Входът на крепостта е от север. При разкопки на крепостта са намерени подземни тунели с разклонения. Ролята на Констанция като крупен военноадминистративен, църковен и стопански градски център нараства твърде много през ХІІ в. Идриси отбелязва, че "град Кунстантия е голям и добре населен град, със земеделски култури и многобройни обработени полета."

Легенди
