Front Street (about 1914)
Front Street, Sowerby, is set on a long, wide green with large trees that line the street and dominate the view. The village's fortunes rose during the Georgian period and many of the properties lining the green date from this period, but there are also a few timber framed buildings with late medieval origins. The church of St Oswald has Norman origins. There is also a Methodist church and a pub that serves food.
