If you travel this road regularly, you know that when you get to
this stretch of the road you may have to hold your breath for a bit
if you don’t want to smell the stinky odor from the large
paper mill along the river. The smell is partially a result of the
sulfur compounds used in the paper-making process; mostly, it's a
result of the cooking out of the lignins and sugars in the wood.
Trees also contain some natural sulfur compounds, which are
liberated during the pulping process.
This paper mill also uses the wood from trees grown on a lot of
local tree farms that can be seen nearby and as far away as the
Boardman, Oregon area. For those interested in the paper making
process, click here for more info: paper

The cache is a small, camoed lock-and-lock that is watched
over by a special guardian. There is a pulloff near the cache
capable of holding a few cars at a time. Keep kids and pets in hand
because of the nearby busy highway. Watch out for the abundant
cheat grass and keep an eye out for snakes in warm weather. Please
rehide the cache as good or better than you found it.
Special thanks go to tumbleweed2 who
helped us with ideas for this cache.
