Great views of the 90 Mile Beach and a chance of seeing Whales just off the coast of Lake Tyers Beach.
This is a favourite spot for locals to watch the whale migration between June and October. A convenient parking spot leads to a short gentle walk to a wooden walkway and viewing platform which leads to stairs down the cliff face to the beach.
There is a fantastic view from the cache site along the eastern end of the 90 mile beach; the longest continuous sand beach in the world, some say.
At weekends and during holiday periods this is a favourite spot for locals and tourists alike. Surf fishermen spend time along the water's edge, and walkers, swimmers and those who have come for a look, can quietly appear, so care needs to be taken when accessing the cache. You might need to appoint a lookout.
Australia is fortunate to have a number of great whale and dolphin watching sites. There are numerous whale and dolphin watching operations around Australia that offer excellent opportunities to see animals in the wild. There are also many land-based sites where whales and dolphins come within metres of the coastline. Land-based whale and dolphin watching is an inexpensive way of seeing these magnificent animals in their natural environments.
Don't forget bring your binoculars and cameras.
