Cache is hidden at Keel Cove in North Nanaimo. Trailhead is located at the end of Keel Cove Lane where there is limited parking or walk the trails from Neck Point Park. Please be careful when you walk down the small, winding trail to the rocky beach especially if children are with you.
Second in a series of caches intended to show you good places for seeing birds and wildlife while you hunt for a cache. Many caches are already hidden at great locations for viewing wildlife but I'm trying to find more to share. And this is one of my favorite spots! At this location I have seen many birds such as cormorants, loons, grebes, ducks, oystercatchers, mergansers, geese, bald eagles, turkey vultures and many gulls eating starfish. Watch out for the hummingbirds, they might buzz you. You may also see otters, seals, sea lions and, if you time the tide right, lots of little creatures in the tide pools. And you get a nice view of Neck Point Park. I would enjoy reading notes about anything interesting you see when you visit this location. Cache is a small camo'd lock n lock. May be difficult to reach at high tide. Please respect the environment and nearby private property. FTF prize is a $5 giftcard. Happy caching! CONGRATS TO Mr. Wilson & a Mt. Goat ON FTF...especially in the dark!!
