Gooralong camping and
recreation area to close - 2 September 2005
A joint decision by the Water Corporation and the Department of
Conservation and Land Management (CALM) will see the Gooralong
camping and recreation site closed as of Friday, 2 September
2005.
Management of this public facility is coordinated between the Water
Corporation, with whom the land is vested, and CALM, who have
maintained the recreation areas grounds and facilities.
The reasons for the closure of Gooralong include safety concerns
for visitors, a poor standard of facilities compared to modern
standards and issues related to the conflicting usages of the site
(motorbikes, campers, walkers, dogs, etc).
The Water Corporation and CALM will continue to work with each
other and the community in an effort to resolve these issues, with
a view to redeveloping and reopening Gooralong in the
future.

Now close to 5 years later they are still
dragging their feet, The signs are still there warning of the risk
of falling trees in the pine tree areas,
but nothing has been done to remove them and upgrade the amenities,
but still it does not mean we cannot enjoy this area, it just means
there is a bit of a hike in required.
This cache is the 4th we have placed in the area and our 5th in
Jarradale, we love the area and enjoy the bush walks here and keep
coming
back every chance we have.
The cache is a slightly sneaky hide... or you may spot it right
away.
You
are looking for a 30 Cal ammo can in the bush, not that far off the
walking trail in easy to
manage scrub.
