200 Fathoms of Wampum (1200 Feet of Strung Beads), 5 Coats, 1 Cloth Cap, 1 Gun, 12 Pounds of Tobacco and one Anker (10 Gallons) of Liquors was the price paid to the Lenape by the English for the Navesink peninsula 346 years ago.

The Map below accompanied the Land Sale Deed for the entire Navesink peninsula, an area of approximately 35 square miles. The Deed was signed on March 25, 1664 by Chief Popamora of the Navesink band of the Lenape and six English negotiators from Long Island. Of the six, two, John Bowne and Randall Huet Sr., were the first to settle the bayshore.

The cache is a Bison tube. Please bring your own pen or pencil.
DIRECTIONS: Park at either of the suggested parking lots (see Waypoints section) and take a leisurely walk along the scenic paved path of this section of "The Henry Hudson Trail (Bayshore Trail)".
