Geocache Description:

This cache is a small lock and lock box.
Boots advisable as it can be muddy and areas just off the main path can be uneven. It can also be muddy if it has been raining.
This is a very popular area for dog walkers so stealth may be required.
There are a couple of cafes within a mile of Portmoak Moss.

Portmoak Moss is an unusual raised peat bog that was used by local residents from the 17th century to harvest peat for domestic fuel. This has left a vertical wall of peat, up to 2.5 metres high, that is exposed round much of the site. There are many species of flowering bog plants to be seen, as well as eight varieties of sphagnum moss. You may also see a variety of animals including roe deer, red squirrels and foxes, as well as over 22 breeding bird species. Fungi can also be seen on dead trees.

The cache off the main path. You will need to jump a very narrow stream and cross some uneven ground.
