The first public school in Washington Territory
In the summer of 1854, the first public school in WA Terr was started in Boistfort Valley at the home of T.W. Newland. That fall a split cedar school house was built adjoining the present cemetery. It burned in Aug 1886 and another was constructed in 1886 near this site and was used until 1912.
CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT #234
BOISTFORD WASH
Built in 1918, dedicated in 1919 and served until 1978. The cement slab 100 feet north in front of the current school still remains.
