We've spent a lot of time (and a few bucks) at this store. After all this time, we were surprised no one had put a cache here, so here it is! Easy drive-up, but beware of many, many muggles!
Cache has been placed for the SCAR2010 event, and should not be sought out until after 5:30pm on May 28th.
A truly Canadian success story:
The first Canadian Tire store opened on September 15, 1925 in Toronto, Ontario by J. William Billes and Alfred J. Billes. This store, which was located at the corner of Yonge and Isabella, bought Hamilton Tire and Garage Ltd. in Toronto's east end with combined savings of $1,800. In 1934, the first official associate store opened in Hamilton, Ontario. In 1937, the store and head office was moved to Yonge St. and Church St. and remains as an associate store in the chain today. In 1928, the store issued its first catalog, becoming one of Canada's most famous mail order businesses.
In 1972 Canadian Tire celebrated 50 years and the first store opened in the province of Saskatchewan. In 1976 A.J. Billes, co-founder of Canadian Tire, becomes a Member of the Order of Canada "for his contribution to the community of business, his concern for his employees and the sharing with them of his successes right from the very start".
Today, the company has grown to over 475 stores and it is now one of Canada's 35 largest publicly traded companies.
