Dog agility is one of the fastest growing dog sports in the World. From its early beginnings in England, dog agility was created from the idea of horse show jumping and made it's debut as a demonstration in the UK at Crufts Dog Show in 1978. Dog agility is a dog sport in which teams (consisting of a dog and handler) compete in obstacle courses for accuracy and time. The courses are set by a judge and the obstacles are numbered with cones and are different each time. The handler may walk the course without the dog to memorize the course and plan the strategy of getting through the course in the fastest amount of time without faulting the dog. The handler may not touch the dog, he can only direct by using voice, movement and various body signals. I have been doing agility for 10 years with my yellow labs and have loved every minute of it.
