Geocache Description:

Heartland State Trail

The Heartland Trail was one of the first rail-to-trail projects in the country. It is a 49 mile multiple use trail between Park Rapids and Cass Lake. The trail is located entirely on a level abandoned railroad grade except for a four mile segment north of Walker, on sharply rolling terrain. The 27 mile segment between Park Rapids and Walker has a paved surface. This segment also has a second grassy treadway for horseback riding and mountain biking. The 20 mile segment from Walker to Cass Lake is also paved, with a partial dual treadway for snowmobiles with studded tracks.

You'll have to take a fair hike down the trail to get this one, but you may want to get off the trail before you get to GZ because of it's location. From the cache location you'll have a good view of the trail and while I was there, a few muggles biked and skated past without noticing what I was doing. A word to the wise, the area is loaded with Poison Ivy, so be prepared, but I chose a location that few plants near it.

Container is a large coffee can painted to match it's surrounding. There is plenty of room to leave and trade Travel Bugs & GeoCoins. And the standard swag for the kids.

Please replace exactly as you found it. FTF = $1
