All of the answers to this cache can be found on a public information board located along a public footpath. There are very good views from just by the information board. I would strongly recommend that whilst doing this cache you take in at least part of the excellent Abberley Advent[ure] Cache series, part of which runs along the same footpath. Note:- Sadly the Abberley series was archived in June 2013.

The view from the cache location
A lot of the rock around Abberley Hills is made up from Limestone. This Limestone was formed during the Silurian Geological period. The rock formed in warm shallow seas from the remnants of coral and animal shells. The principal mineral that it contains is calcium carbonate.
In the Silurian Period, surprising as it may sound, Southern England and Wales were in a different contiment to Scotland and some of Northern England. Southern England and Wales were surrounded by the warm clear seas that were perfect for the creation of limestone. In the past the Abberley Hills have been quarried for road stone.
After the Silurian epoch, the tectonic plates that make up the Earths crust, continued to move, bringing the continents even closer together. By the end of the Devonian time period, the shallow seas that had been perfect for limestone creation had been replaced by desert as the continents from the Silurian period had started to collide, eventually forming the super continent of Pangaea.
Pangaea existed for around 100 million years (between apporximately 300 million years ago to 200 million years ago). Significant erosion of Pangaea occurred over time, and significant amounts of rock were moved and then later deposited on the edges of mountains during the Permian geological time period. The rocks that were formed in this way are called Breccia. Breccia is made up of angular fragments of the eroded Pangaea rocks, that have effectively been fused together. If you look around where you are now, you will see that the path is made up of Breccia from the Permian period.
To log the cache please mail me the following answers, by clicking on my username (just under the cache name) and then clicking the "Send message" link.
(1) - According to the public information sign at the published coordinates, whereabouts were Southern England and Wales situated during the Silurian Period? (clue:- it's North, South, East or West of something)
(2) - During the same period, which continent was Scotland part of?
(3) - What is the postcode of the people who placed the public information sign?
Optionally, please upload a photograph of yourself and/or your GPS in front of the signboard.
