Geocache Description:

Wooded area, close to the lake

There is a monument which marks FORT EARLY. The Fort was constructed by Gen. David Blackshear during the war of 1812 and used afterwards by Gen. Andrew Jackson in 1818. The monument was erected by the Fort Early Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1916.

The monument's waypoint is N31 51.555 W083 55.724 this is where you should park.

Another waypoint to check out is N31 51.582 W083 55.742. This is a small monument marking the spot of a spring which was used for water by the Fort.

The land is owned by the local DAR Chapter. we do have permission.
