Geocache Description:

What can I say, I like puzzles.
This cache IS NOT at the posted location but is within 3.2 KM. This STARTING location requires OBSERVATIONS ONLY from a public pathway provided by the CITY OF PITT MEADOWS and the CPR and you ARE allowed to be here, The actual cache location IS OVER 150 feet AWAY FROM THE RAILWAY TRACKS as required by geocache rules and Canadian Pacific Railway regulations and IS ON PUBLIC PROPERTY.
To find the final location you need to do a little figuring

One thing that has always been true about living in Pitt Meadows is that if you want to go to the big city you need to cross a river.

Last year a six lane ,concrete, cable stayed bridge opened replacing twin steel and wood swing bridges built in 1957 and 1978. The 1978 bridge sat on the same pilings as a wooden bridge built in 1915. (see picture) This was a one lane wooden bridge that was actually assembled from a CPR railway bridge floated up river from the spot at which you should now be standing.

Now for the puzzle. If you look west you will see a yellow diamond shaped sign with two numbers, the top number is ( A ). Now look upriver and count the number of cables on the new bridge. This number is (B ). For you non-hikers I have avoided the use of UTM locations this time. The location of the cache is N 49 14.663+(A) W 122 43.650+(B)

Near this spot, 100 years ago, a slip provided access to a ferry that carried you across the river before the bridges existed.

For more info on this subject and more check out the Pitt Meadows Museum and Archives on Harris Road at the railway tracks
