Along many state and county roads weaving throughout privately owned forested land, signs have been constructed noting the land owner, and dates of harvest, planting, thinning, and that of the next expected harvest.
In the nearly 40 years I've lived in Olympia and traveled throughout the Olympic Peninsula, I have seen these signs spring up. It's amazing how quickly the forests have returned through aggressive replanting efforts and also what mother nature chooses to cycle through before Douglas Fir returns as the dominant tree.
From time to time, I will choose a few of these sign locations to expand the cache database. Most are simple drive-by hides but others have been placed a little deeper into the forest for a better hide. In many spots, parking will be limited. Please don't park too far onto the shoulders and be wary of traffic. This is kinda like the forest version of the common strip mall or department store "skirt lifter".
