This cache has been archived.

cacheseeker859: I'm not even sure the cache is still out there. I know a lot of the fire tacks are missing. Time to archive this one. It was fun for a while!

Geocache Description:

One of a series of urban night caches in the Lexington area in tribute to the films featuring the Pink Panther and Inspector Clouseau. A bright flashlight is recommended. Be courteous & considerate when using your flashlight around others. As always, pay attention to your surroundings & the rules of the road when crossing the street, etc. Read below to start on your journey.

As a child, Princess Dala received a gift from her father, the Shah of Lugash: the Pink Panther, the largest diamond in the world. This huge pink gem has an unusual flaw: looking deeply into the stone, one perceives a tiny discoloration resembling a leaping pink panther. When Dala is a young woman, rebels seize power in Lugash and then demand possession of the jewel, but the exiled princess refuses to hand it over. Several years later, Dala relaxes on holiday at an exclusive skiing resort in Cortina d'Ampezzo. While there, a jewel thief called "The Phantom" steals the jewel. Inspector Clouseau is on the case, but needs your help to locate the Pink Panther diamond.

The Pink Panther is a series of comedy films featuring the bungling French police detective Jacques Clouseau that began in 1963 with the release of the film of the same name. The role was originated by, and is most closely associated with, Peter Sellers. Most of the films were directed and co-written by Blake Edwards, with notable theme music composed by Henry Mancini. The plot of the first film is based on the theft of this diamond. The diamond reappears in several other films in the series.

We've created a series of urban night caches in the Lexington area in tribute to the Pink Panther movie series.

Hunt for the Pink PantherThe cache is not at the listed coordinates. However, this IS your starting point. To find this cache, you must first read the hint and follow those clues to help you on your way. Locate and follow the single, reflective "breadcrumbs" that will lead on your path and finally to the cache. [You will pass near other caches that you can get along the way, IF you have them loaded into your GPS. However, be careful not to get too far off your path for this cache or you will have to backtrack.] Once you find a set of firetacks that resemble a pair of glowing WHITE eyes, you are very near ground zero. The cache will be within 15 feet of the Panther's 'eyes'.

Please be reasonable about the time at night when you visit. You may search for this in the day and may be able to find it, but it should be much more fun at night.

Within this cache container you will find a clue that puts you on the right path to find A Shot in the Dark. Do not remove the clue from this cache container!

Discover the Pink PantherWithin the cache container you will have the opportunity to DISCOVER the Pink Panther itself! Please be sure to only log it as a discovery and do not remove the trackable GeoGem from the cache.

Good luck, be stealthy and don't forget your (bright) flashlight!

Since the clue was confusing people, I edited it to be clearer & get you on your way faster.
