Geocache Description:

This cache continues a series of hides dedicated to songs by individual artists or groups I enjoy and also relate to the cache itself.

I have been looking for a long time for a place to dedicate a cache to these guys. Steely Dan is easily one of my favorite groups. Say what you will, there is no mistaking the sound of Steely Dan. The band's music is characterized by complex jazz-influenced structures and harmonies played by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen along with a revolving cast of rock and pop studio musicians. I could easily spend a lot of time lamenting about them but the fact is these guys were perfectionists to the nth degree. I love how these guys are able to combine elements of jazz, funk, rock, pop and R&B. That coupled with their wonderfully creative use of chord sequences and harmonies highlighted their unique sound. Two of my favorite albums are Aja released in 1977 and Gaucho released in 1980. Their previous 5 albums, Can’t Buy A Thrill, Countdown To Ecstasy, Pretzel Logic, Katy Lied and The Royal Scam (in order), are all great. It would be 20 years before they would get together again to put together Two Against Nature in 2000. The song “Hey Nineteen” is from the album Gaucho probably is my 2nd favorite after Aja. On a long run or bike ride it never fails to put a smile on my face.

The cache itself should not be that hard to find. I have attempted to make it goof-proof in the event something goes wrong…you will see what I mean. I’m only giving this thing 2 stars for difficulty, just be sure you all don’t tell bdharris or jcanyoneer I put out something so easy…I’d hate to ruin my reputation?. You will also see the “19” in several places.

Congrats to jcanyoneer on the FTF! Always nice to have a way to burn off some calories after a 4-hour power-breakfast!
