Geocache Description:

This cache is placed near the Groveton Covered Bridge and may be used to satisfy one of the requirements for GC1XHWG, The Covered Bridges of New Hampshire challenge

The Groveton Bridge spans the Ammonoosuc River and was built by Captain Charles Richardson and his son in 1852. It is a Paddleford Truss bridge with added arches. It is 126 feet long and has an overall width of 21 feet with a 13 foot vertical clearance.

When US Route 3 was reconstructed in 1939, theGroveton Bridge was bypassed. It was repaired by Milton Graton and his son Arnold in 1964-1965.

The bridge is open to foot traffic only.
