While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

Torvastad


Torvastad var tidligere en storkommune som både Haugesund, Skaare, Utsira, Norheim, Spanne, Moksheim, Feøy, og Vibrandsøy lå under.
Det er gjort funn her som viser at det har vært bebyggelse her helt tilbake til steinalderen. På gården Hauske er Norges rikeste flintfunn gjort med omkring 250 flintfunn. Det er også flere skipsgraver her som ligner mye på de mer kjente Oseberg og Golestadgravene i Vestfold.
Det fins en del sagn om de gamle kongene fra Torvastad. En av dem sier at Olav den Hellige seilte på en elv som gikk gjennom bygda. Han grep tak i fjellet med en jernhanske på. Her er det i dag en evigvarende vannkilde som springer ut av fjellet. Om dette sagnet er sant, vet man ikke, men det fins i hvert fall ikke noe elv i dag, men der er en dal som går helt fra Skjøllingstad sørover til Haugevågen.
Midt i bygda står Bjørgene med 8-10 topper som rager opp. Her stod vardevakten, og her lyste varden når fiende gjorde strandhogg i Rogaland.
Foruten jordbruk så har fiskeri vært en stor del av inntektskildene til Torvastad. Bygda har hatt 11 salterier, 2 notbarkerier, 2 ishus og 6 sildoljefabrikker.
Steder som er verdt å se på Torvastad er blant annet: Rehaugene og Olavskjelda.

Torvastad was an big municipality which places like Haugesund, Skaare, Utsira, Nordheim, Spanne, Moksheim, Feøy and Vibrandsøy belonged to.
There are also made findings that proves that there has been living people here back to the stone ages.
On the Farm Hauske, Norways biggest find of flint tools was made. There was found about 250 flint tools
