Geocache Description:

A small pill container with log. BYOP Coords may be a bit off.

I wanted to hide a cache at my church and post some history of this church.

This lot of land was bought in January 1954 by the Calvary Baptist Church for the huge sum of $5000 in which a mission building was erected. It was paid and built by the church members before a mission was ever formed, which is unique.

The $50,000 building held its first service September 11, 1955. More than 200 people attended this initial service. A revival followed, and a dedication service was held for this Mission December 4, 1955.

On August 5, 1956 the group was organized into a church with 87 charter members. In 1957 a house on Boeke was purchased to be used for Sunday school. In 1958 a second story was built on the original building at a cost of $33,000. In 1962 the Sunday School reached a number of 263 attendees. In 1966 plans and financing were begun toward a new sanctuary(current) to face Boeke Rd. Ground was broken in June 1970 and it was completed with the help of members and friends in February 1972. This church was literally built by its members.
