Peanut Butter Jar
I loved television back in the early years and thought my first hidden cache would reflect that. There were many great shows on then, in television’s infancy. “You Asked for It” was one. It was a TV series that aired from 1950 – 1959. Hosted by Art Baker and then Jack Smith. On the show, viewers were asked to send in postcards describing something that they wanted to see on television, such as the reenactment of William Tell shooting an apple off his son's head. Short film clips were also presented, with the selection based upon viewer requests. The show was sponsored by Skippy peanut butter, thus the cache container. (Informational note: Skippy peanut butter is made in the United States, with 90 million jars sold annually. It was first sold on February 1, 1933.)
