Mark your calendars for September 18! Let's gather again to say
goodbye to summer and hello to fall with a potluck meet-n-greet,
Saturday, September, 18th, from Noon til 3 pm at Oak Flat PG.
In addition to eating and caching, we will be celebrating 5000
finds for three teams. Budabeli, Geefour and frankandginny will be
the 9th, 10th and 11th in the state to reach this high level.
Geocoins and pins will be presented by the previous high achiever
to each team and each will receive a golden ammo can. If you would
like to contribute small trinkets or mementos to the cans, think
funny or useful. Tealeaf will have the cans so come find her to
sign the congratulatory logbooks. Congratulations to all three
teams; all have different caching styles but in the end, they keep
the standards high and are assets to our caching community. Moki
too. From Albuquerque, take I-40 east to the Tijeras exit and drive
south on HWY 337 about 8.4 miles to Oak Flat Road at N 34 59.380, W
106 19.807. Head east on Oak Flat Rd about a mile to the Oak Flat
picnic area. Just follow the signs to the Pine Group area, where
the listed coordinates take you to the parking area. This nice,
private area includes 24 tables (several are shaded), 3 grills, 2
serving tables, with nearby bathrooms.We will have several,
permanent, unpublished caches for everyone to find at their leisure
after the picnic. When logging "will attend," please indicate how
many people will be in your group and what dish you will be
bringing. We will have the charcoal grills set up and ready to use
by noon. Anyone who wishes to hide caches for this Event can do so
by submitting them up to 30 days before the Event. The caches can
then be held by the Reviewer and published after the Event. Just
let us know about them so we can include them with the handout
listings (email us via our profile). We will need the following
items for the potluck: Hamburger patties (several people can sign
up for this) Hotdogs Buns for above Side dishes (salads, beans,
casseroles, etc) Chips and Dips Fruit, Watermelon, etc. Dessert
Drinks (diet and reg) and water & cups ice in ice-chests for
drinks
