The cache is a film can. Inside you will find a pencil, log book, rubber lizard, mini stickers, mini sunscreen, penny flattened by a train and a golden dollar coin.
Remember that this is a mini cache so plan your swaps accordingly.
To reach the cache, take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to the Mountain Station. Walk out the back door and hike down the cement path to it's end. Follow the sign to the Long Valley Ranger Station and fill out a Wilderness Permit. They are free! Follow the hiking trail from the Ranger Station West for approx. .1 mile. Take the trail to the right and follow it to the next junction (about 1.7 miles). Go right at this junction and continue on for .3 mile to the next marked trail junction. Go right following the sign to Tamarack Valley (approx. .5 mile). When you reach the sign indicating "Tamarack Valley", it's time to take off cross country using your GPS. To increase the adventure, I won't go into great detail.
The cache is hidden in a curious horizontal wedge cut, 3 feet above the ground on a Lodgepole Pine.
