Tysk flyvrak Heinkel 111 ligger ved siden av Rauma elv.
Herbert Scmitt-Cotta hadde fylt 21 år og satt ved frokostbordet i Schleswig da han fikk ordre om å angripe en luftvernkrysser ved Åndalsnes. Etter endt oppdrag på veien tilbake over Lesjaskog treffer han på to engelske Gladiator fly. De skyter en motor i brann på Heinkelen og gjennomhuller telegrafisten. Scmitt-Cotta nødlander på en sandbanke i Rauma elv og Heinkelen fylles halvfull av vann. Han henter hjelp for telegrafisten på gården Fiva. Men telegrafisten får tak i en pistol og skyter seg. Mannskapet blir tatt til fange og ført til den engelske krysseren York og seinere til fangeleir i Canada. Scmitt-Cotta opplevde på en dag å spise frokost i Schlesvig, nedskyting i Romsdalen og middag på York utenfor Ålesund.
Deler av Heinkel 111 ligger her som en påminnelse fra krigen i 1940.

The German Heinkel 111 bomber aircraft is next to the river Rauma.
Herbert Scmitt-Cotta was 21 years old when he sat at a breakfast table in Schleswig, Gremany, when he was given orders to attack an anti-aircraft cruiser at Andalsnes, Norway. After completing the mission, on the return trip back across Lesjaskog, his airplane came under attack by two English Gloster Gladiator fighter planes. The two Gloster Gladiators open fire on the Heinkel hitting the radioman and an engine, which starts on fire. The pilot Scmitt-Cotta emergency lands his Heinkel 111 on a sandbar in the river Rauma. As the Heinkel 111 begins filling with water, Scmitt-Cotta and the crew help pull the badly injured radioman to safety, before hey can help him further, the radioman obtains a gun and shoots himself. Herbert Scmitt-Cotta and his crew are captured and brought to the English cruiser York, and later to a prison camp in Canada. On that day, Herbert Scmitt-Cotta experienced eating breakfast in Schleswig, Germany, battle in Romsdalen and dinner on the York outside Alesund.
Parts of the Heinkel 111 are located here as a reminder of the war in 1940.
