This easy find is along an NCC bike trail leading off Carling Avenue opposite Rifle Road in Ottawa’s west end (formally Nepean) near the 19th Tee Driving Range.
At one time, there was a sewage treatment plant (Watts Creek Sewage Treatment Centre), operated by the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton at this location which served parts of Kanata and Nepean. Some years ago, there was a proposal to build a waterpark at this location, but the plan must have fallen through since there hasn’t been any development in the meantime. We all know by this time of the summer how successful the Calypso Water Park near Limoges ON has been so far. It's a blessing in disguise that the project at this location didn't go ahead. Otherwise, we would have lost this area to "progress" (?). There is a suitable spot to park one’s vehicle close to the trailhead. There are a couple of caches in the area, most of which are suitable to be found whilst on a bicycle. The container is a Lock ‘n’ Lock with room only for very small trades. (EDIT: As of 11 August 2019, it is a camoed preform) It started off with a few coins, a couple of hand wipes (in case you feel like you should be washing your hands ) and eyeglass cleaning wipes (also suitable for cleaning the screen of your GPSr) and of course, the logbook. Please bring your own writing implement since there’s not enough room for one in the container. Congratulations to team valspad for being FTF. (As a note of interest, she's been the FTF ALL of my hides so far.....). Have fun at the 19th Tee and don't get any hidey ideas while you're there!
