In english

English:
First: This has nothing to do with the Oscar Wilde play. Ernst (not Earnest) was born in Kabelvåg Lofoten in the northern part of Norway in 1925. He was one of six siblings, but only four grew up. Ernst barely did. At the age of five he got tuberculosis. He was in hospital til he was eleven. No school. He was going to die any way. But a priest teaches him the basics, and being a clever boy he joined school at the right level when he was cured.
Ernst grew up and finally ended in Oslo. Here he married and got two kids. He started working for Statens Skjermbildefotografering, a government organization with the sole purpose to fight tuberculosis in Norway. What could be more right. They more or less succeeded and the organization no longer exist. There are few people with tuberculoses in Norway now. And nearly all the cases are foreigner bringing the disease with them.
The tough childhood took its toll. Ernst had a declining health, but he liked to go for walks, and this was one of his favorite spots. It's only a short walk from Bogerud where he lived with his wife and family til he died in 1996. There is blueberries here, and the view is nice. You can actually see the Oslo Fjord (see picture).
