Geocache Description:

small cache on private property next to park

This is a small cache, but hope you have fun with it. The cache is located on private property next to Brookville's quiet little Northside Park.
The Park is the site of the Old Brookville High School. The school closed circa 1960, when the current HS opened. It burned to the ground around 1975. Rumor was that the fire was caused by arson.
Across Barnett St. is the Northside Elementary School. A few years back, some experts recommended that it be demolished rather than renovated. Cooler heads prevailed, a renovation was done, and this beautiful old school continues to serve the Brookville Area School District as an elementary school.
The cache is located just outside the park on the residence property of a local contemporary artist. You have permission to go on the property. There are two friendly Golden Labs(Shim & Shake). If the owners (Bruce and LaJean) are outside feel free to say hello. From the cache location, you will be able to see a part of their unusual outdoor modern art displays. You may look around (just be respectful, this is their home) - some of them are very interesting.
Park near the starting point along Church St. The parking portion of Church Street is clearly marked with a white line. Start at the plaque on the walkway (N41 09.8122' W079 04.9338') Follow your GPSr to GZ.
If you have the time, check out the old Brookville Cemetery on the other side of the elementary school. It is known as the Civil War Cemetery in the county assessment records. There are veterans from the Civil War, the War of 1812, and the Revolutionary War buried there as well as some of the County's original settlers.
FTF prize is a magnetic nano cache and FTF pin.
The cache also contains a small log and a couple trade items. You will need a pen.
Have fun and Happy Trails!
