This is an ammo can hidden above the Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery. It is not on hatchery grounds. The only approach for the cache is Trail 143, which ascends from Tonto Creek to the Mogollon Rim. The trail is rather rough in spots (loose rock and rugged spots) and this low-lander was challenged by the elevation.
Look for a prominent grey-white outcrop of rock. This is the overlook and offers a fine view of the Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery and Zane Grey country to the south. Mind the drop-off; it's a long way down. The cache is located off the trail, up the hill opposite the cliff. Please use caution. This is rattlesnake territory and we're just guests in their home.
