Have found a couple of letterbox hybrids and decided that I wanted to put one out.
This letterbox hybrid cache is located on the section of the North Country Trail that I have adopted and maintain. It is a very short walk to the cache from the trail head at Gravel Lick (about a 1/4 mile).
In it, you will find a log book, some trade items and a handmade stamper and ink pad. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE STAMPER OR INKPAD. Those who stamp their letterbox notepads will need it.
If you want to find this geocache without a gps, here are the directions:
1. Take Route 66 North From Shippenville.
2. At Leeper, turn right onto Route 36.
3. Follow Route 36 for approximately 3.5 miles and turn right onto Miola Road.
4. Immediately after getting on Miola Road, turn left onto Gravel Lick Road.
5. Follow Gravel Lick Road until you see the trailhead for the North Country Trail.
6. Park your car and follow the North Country Trail SouthWest of where you park (the same side of the road as the North Country Trail Sign).
7. Follow the trail across the crick and up the hillside.
8. After a few switchbacks up the hill, the trail will go straight for about 300 feet until it intersects with Baker Trail. There is a log box at the intersection of the North Country Trail and Baker Trail.
9. The Letterbox is located behind the big rock about 30 feet from the log box.
Please make sure that you wear Flourescent orange when seeking this Letterbox during hunting seasons.
