Geocache Description:

A fun holiday/mid-winter event to kick off 2011!


About regifting: Each year during the holiday season you usually have a chance to get some nice gifts . . . but you also have a chance at getting a gift that doesn’t quite suit you. Perhaps it’s that porcelain frog that insistently croaks out Jingle Bells. Maybe your secret Santa gave you that extremely festive sweater that’s two sizes two small. It could be that 30 years ago you loved The Love Boat but the full DVD set wasn’t on your wish list. Whatever the gift, this event is the perfect time to regift! Remember: One man’s terrible gift is another man’s . . . treasure?
* Of course, you don't have to bring a re-gift to attend the event, mingle with other geocachers, and claim the smiley...it's just more fun that way!

General Schedule:
2:07 – 2:10: Arrive, register, and put your regifts & finger foods on the proper tables.
2:10 – 2:40: Go out and about on foot to hide your gift number.
2:40 – 3:00: Return to the party and munch on finger foods.
3:00 – 3:45: Draw coordinates and find your gift number!
3:45 – 4:17: Return to the party and we will open our re-gifts.
4:17 – 4:27: Cleanup, depart, and cache with friends! (Sunset is 4:41 pm)

Detailed Instructions:
What to bring:
  • Your GPS receiver so that you can mark the coordinates of your hide and subsequently find someone else's hide.
  • A wrapped "regift". It can be an actual regift or you can find/purchase something, if necessary. Gifts can be large/small, cheap/expensive, cute/ugly, etc. Just keep it family friendly!
  • A container to hide your gift number in. Generally you will probably want a micro or nano container (film canisters are fine). If you'd like your container back, that will be arranged.
  • A finger food item to share with everyone. We will have limited table space so generally we'll be walking or sitting with paper plates. Some ideas are cookies, little sandwiches, deviled eggs, banana/zuccini bread, mini-muffins, shrimp, nuts, cheese & crackers, chips, etc. Of course, if someone wants to bring a chocolate fountain with all the fixings, we WILL find a way to accomodate :)

* Of course, you needn't participate in the regift-o-rama to attend the event and log a smiley, but it'll be more fun that way!
