Geocache Description:

When the Japanese invaded Hong Kong during WW2, they set about making themselves at home. They took over many buildings for administrating the region but they also built a number of structures to defend the island.

With defence in mind, they built a number of tunnels. Some were for storing ammunition and some for shelter. Many have been covered up or collapsed over the years but very few still remain intact. One of them is described accurately on this page:

The cache is a medium sized container located within 20 meters of the Japanese tunnel. The GZ is within 40m of Blacks link but does require some scrambling. This is a challenge and can be dangerous during rain and high winds.

The pictures show our 7 year old climbing during good weather without too much difficulty but he is quite used to these types of terrain. Please do not bring kids on the last 40m unless you are certain of their abilities.

The ground at the GZ is sandy gravel; appropriate footwear is a must.

If you wish to explore the tunnels, please bring along a strong flashlight.

Once you find the cache, the tunnel can be found just to the west of the cache, down the small drop. You can make out the entrance across the gully from the cache location - see photo.
