Geocache Description:

Another dreadful micro in Lackawannock Twp

CONGRATULATIONS to tegdlg on being the First To Find!!

I have wanted to hide a cache here for some time, but never got around to it until now.
I originally wanted to place a cache here because it is a nice tranquil place that used to be a favorite spot for anglers on opening day of trout season. The Fish Commission used to stock here because of the widening in the Little Neshannock Creek, but they no longer do.

In 2008 either the state or the county contracted a New Castle paving company to mill this bridge as well as the bridge on Bethel-New Wilmington Rd. that crosses over I-80 and resurface it. They did one of the best jobs I've see. When they tied the new bridge surface in with the old existing road it was as smooth as glass. When you drove over it there was no sound or bump what so ever. After the project was finished, the state came in and cut expansion grooves across both of the newly surfaced bridges. These grooves are almost like driving over rumble strips. These grooves still exist on the I-80 bridge.

The best part is that last year in 2009, when the federal government gave out all of that stimulus money, the state had a contractor come in, remove the year old black top, replace all the guard rails and resurfaced the bridge with concrete. The funny thing is, the bridge is made out of concrete. So why didn't they do that when they first built the bridge? My second question is why do you spend X number of tax dollars to resurface a bridge and then a year later resurface it again? A prime example of the brilliance of the government's handling of taxpayer's money.

There is a small place you can get most of your car off the road on the north bound lane on the south side of the bridge or you can park on McConnell Rd and walk to the bridge.

There is a spoiler that lives near by that likes to tell cachers the location of the cache (7/5/10). One of the cachers allowed him to help find the cache. Parking on the north side of the bridge, between the bridge and the bridge sign by McConnell Road, may not draw his attention to you if you don't want him to spoil your hunt.

PLEASE USE CAUTION: Traffic tends to fly on Greenfield Rd. and because of the curve in the road the line of sight is shortened for drivers.
