Nepean River - The Weir Traditional Cache
bikerbuddy: The Nepean River caches were always problematic due to fluctuations in the river level. It looks like they're all gone now. I've decided not to replace them since I'm no longer geocaching. Thanks to all who went and took a look.

This is my third cache in the Nepean River series.
You do not need a boat to find this cache. In fact, I strongly recommend you walk to it, since the weir will make it impossible to get close to GZ by boat, assuming that you are coming from Penrith.
You will have a fine view of the weir and Nepean River from GZ, but please do not walk onto the weir. The cache is not there and there are several signs forbidding this and warning of the dangers of venturing onto it. Do not become a candidate for the Darwin Awards. DO NOT WALK ONTO THE WEIR.
To get to the cache location, park on the western side of the river in a car park suggested by the parking coordinates. From this carpark, follow the road to Victoria Bridge where the trailhead will take you down a track next to the bridge. You may choose to walk down near the shore as I suggested when this cache was first published, however this route is now difficult due to the overgrown jungle-like terrain that has sprouted in the last few years after a few floods. Instead, I suggest you walk under the bridge and find the caravan park fence on the other side. Follow this along on the outside as best you can. It won't take long before you find the track down to the weir just below the caravan park. It's wide and easy to follow. Follow this and eventually you will find yourself walking along wire mesh in spots, placed, I assume, to preserve the trail from washaways. That will lead you to the area where you need to search.
Some will find this an easy, straight forward cache while others may be scratching their heads. I think that will depend upon the assumptions you make.
