John Barth Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Vizardo: Multi-caches are too difficult to maintain. Especially ones with tiny intermediate steps. Trees fall over. Leaves pile up.

Geocache Description:

This is a multi-cache that shows you Liberty Dam with its peculiar artsy spillway. I hope water is going over when you visit. You can park at sloped lot off Wards Chapel Road. Yes, you can drive to the dam if the gate is open. But the gate will be locked again when the police are finished at their firing range. You can also park near fire roads if you don't block them.

This cache is not worthy of the name John Barth. It does not make you read his fiendishly clever and libidinous novels to find clues. It does not make you hoist sail on the Chesapeake Bay. You will have to report to four locations before you find the John Barth cache. They are Adam East, Log, Pillar, and Adam West. The coordinates above are for Adam East. You will find a brass plaque with figures to help you find Log. Log starts the same as Adam East: 39º 22.___ and 76º 53.___. To find the first three missing numbers, take the height of the dam times 6 minus 30. To find the second three missing numbers, take the height of the dam times 3 minus 47. John Barth is an ammunition box. The second part is a pill fob, the third is a travel coffee cup. In March, 2020, a sign was placed closing the parking area to the dam. I visited in January, 2021. Perhaps the Baltimore City Department of Public Works forgot to remove the sign. Please add any information you discover.
