Geocache Description:

A nice place to stop on a bike ride.

The Russell Research Station (RRS) is a 115 hectare (283 acre) research facility of the University of California's Center for Forestry. It is located in the hills of north of Lafayette, California. The station was established in 1961 as a center for wildland and forestry research.

The Leuschner Observatory, operated by the University of California Astronomy department, is also located here. Built in 1886 on the Berkeley Campus, it was moved to Russell Research Station in 1965.

The observatory is currently being used for radio and optical SETI.

You can see the optical telescopes at:
     37°55'9.58"N 122° 9'13.75"W
on Google Earth.

Congratulations on the FTF to SnoWake! It seems the "not recommended at night" attribute was no obstacle.
