It seems here lately we find potential cache locations purely by accident. Recently we were out near Rochford doing maintenance on one of our caches, and saw this area from the road. Stopping to look, we were amazed that we had never known about this particular spot until now.
One thing that we discovered when we were placing the cache, was that there are times when this particular area is HEAVILY concentrated with Muggles on bicycles or hikers stopping to rest along the trail and enjoy the view also. Hence the allusion to Grand Central Station. There are also times that absolutely nobody is around. However, because of the heavy traffic here at times, we decided that this particular spot would not work for hiding an actual, normal cache container. And we didn't just want to throw a micro or film can down and that's it. So we made this into a multi.
The coordinates listed above will take you to a well hidden matchstick container that contains the coordinates for the Final, which is not far from here. The Final is a well hidden waterproof "metal box" commonly used for caches.
Although Stage 1 is right next to the Mickelson trail, you do not have to have a hiking permit to access it. Park along side the road at coordinates N44 06.435, W103 38.952. Be sure to pull well off the road. Meander across the road and the trail, stopping to enjoy the view of Rapid Creek and the falls, which is the main reason we chose this spot. Then follow the GPS... UP the hill. If there people around, use extreme stealth. Take a picture with your GPS, or pretend you're tying your shoes or something. Or, just hang out for a few minutes, ooh and aah, and they will leave. Use caution in this area near Stage 1, there are scraps of barbed wire laying nearby. After obtaining the needed coordinates, re-camo the container carefully as you found it and walk back across the road to get to the Final. And just like you did at the first stage, after doing your business here please be sure to re-cover and re-camo well, so it is not accidentally found.
As always, have fun, good luck, and enjoy the view.
