Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America
requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21
required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project
that—on average—requires 167 service hours. In 2008
alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the
national volunteer hour value of $19.51/hr).
An Eagle Scout Project was done at Meadowthorpe Park in 2002 by
an Eagle Scout from Troop 111 in the Elkhorn District of the Blue
Grass Council of Kentucky. Troop 111 is chartered by Meadowthorpe
Presbyterian Church. The Eagle Scout Project was improvements
inside the church, as well as landscaping & such at the
Meadowthorpe Community Center at the south end of Meadowthorpe
Park.
The cache location is somewhere in Meadowthorpe Park. The cache
is camoflauged and large enough to contain trade items and travel
bugs, besides the log. The cache is starting out with just the log,
as well as a few Scout patches as trade items and a few drawing
entry forms (see below).
Permission for this cache placement was sent to C. Michael
Downs, Parks & Rec Div. Awaiting approval code.
