Geocache Description:

Named after The Narrows canyon, this cache overlooks the entrance to The Narrows near Pine, AZ. The cache is a few hundred feet off the Oak Springs Trail #16, a segment of the Arizona Trail. Beyond this cache, the hike through The Narrows is rugged and a challenge to navigate. At least one solo hiker/climber suffered his demise after a fall.

The Arizona Trail is the vision of Flagstaff teacher Dale Shewalter, who passed away on 10 January 2010. See this link for more on Dale and the Arizona Trail: http://www.aztrail.org/

Finding the cache requires some hiking. The Oak Springs Trail #16 begins at the Pine Trailhead. See parking waypoint below. When you’re within 350 feet of the cache, leave the Oak Springs Trail and enter The Narrows canyon. You will be walking in the rocky creek bed of Pine Creek. Leave the creek bed when your compass points about 90 degrees to the left. The terrain rating reflects the last 250 feet plus of an uphill scramble.

For a quick reference to other nearby caches, see the Oak Springs and Walnut Trail bookmark list on this cache page. These 2 trails intersect at a junction near the “No Soup for You” cache. Also see Greasepot's Arizona Trail bookmark list for more caches along the Arizona Trail.
